Ricoh Prices GR IV 30th Anniversary Kit at $1,799, Ships October 21
Ricoh ships 6,000 GR IV 30th anniversary kits on October 21 at $1,799, pairing the standard compact with commemorative finishes, pins, and accessories.

Processing notes
- Ricoh GR IV 30th anniversary kit ships October 21 for $1,799, limited to 6,000 units
- Kit includes commemorative button finishes, GN-3 (30th) ring cap, leather strap, hot shoe cover, and 16 pins
- Two logo pins are kit-exclusive; other accessories sell separately, including a GR III hot shoe cover version
Ricoh will ship its limited 30th anniversary Ricoh GR IV kit on October 21 for $1,799 — a $200 premium over the standard GR IV — and will cap production at 6,000 units. The company first announced the kit earlier this summer, and the ship date lands on what appears to be the actual anniversary of the original GR1's release.
For working photographers, the practical question is straightforward: the $1,799 buys a functionally standard GR IV dressed in commemorative trim plus accessories, not new imaging capability. The camera itself carries its shutter release and rear buttons "finished in a special color inspired by the plated finish used on the first-generation GR1," along with what Ricoh calls "a special power-off graphic" to mark the anniversary.
The kit's remaining contents are cosmetic and collectible. Ricoh includes a ring cap, the "GN-3 (30th)," with a diamond-cut design that echoes the lens area of the original GR1, a leather finger strap engraved with "30th Anniversary," and a steel-gray metal hot shoe cover bearing the 30th anniversary logo on the front and "Ricoh GR" on the back. Buyers also get 16 pins: 14 depicting past GR models, one with the 30th anniversary logo, and one with the GR logo.
What's exclusive and what isn't
Ricoh has split the accessories into exclusive and separately sold items. The two logo pins ship only with the anniversary kit, so collectors who want them must buy the full package. The remaining 14 model pins, the finger strap, and the hot shoe cover will be sold individually or bundled as accessories — and Ricoh is producing a version of the hot shoe cover for the GR III series as well, which matters to photographers already invested in that body and unwilling to pay the full-kit premium.
Availability and ordering
Ricoh's own site currently offers only a "keep me informed" button rather than a purchase option, but B&H has opened preorders. That gap between the manufacturer channel and retailers is worth watching: with 6,000 units worldwide, allocation will likely tighten as the October 21 ship date approaches, and photographers who want the kit at list price should act through retailers now rather than wait for Ricoh's direct channel.
The bigger product question
The anniversary kit arrives alongside a more consequential release for working shooters: the GR IVx, Ricoh's higher-resolution variant of the enthusiast compact, which the company has confirmed for later this year. For photographers choosing where to put roughly $1,800, the decision now splits between a commemorative collectible with identical core specifications and a new sensor configuration aimed at image output.
Production-limited anniversary editions of the GR line have historically moved quickly through dealer channels, and the 6,000-unit cap plus the October 21 ship date suggests this one will follow the same pattern — with the GR IVx waiting in the wings as the next real decision point for GR-system buyers.
